ELLSWORTH COUNTY COMMISSION MEETING

                                                                                 

MINUTES

 

July 25, 2016

 

The Board of Ellsworth County Commissioners convened this 25^th day of July 2016 at the Ellsworth County Courthouse. 

                                                            Members Present:

                                                            Albert W. Oller, 1^st District Commissioner

                                                            Kermit Rush, 2^nd District Commissioner

                                                            Terry L. Kueser, 3^rd District Commissioner

                                                                                         

OPENING BUSINESS:

Chairman Rush called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m.

 

Commissioner Oller moved to approve the Agenda with an addition.  Commissioner Kueser seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

 

Commissioner Oller moved to approve the Minutes of July 18, 2016.  Commissioner Kueser seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

 

Open Forum:

Norman Mannel, a Lincoln County Resident, congratulated the Commissioners for using the wind power money in Ellsworth County's general fund.  He said the tax payers get a break on their mill levy when it goes into general fund.  Lincoln County uses their wind power money for economic development.  Mr. Mannel feels like this is unfair to the Lincoln County tax payers.  The Commissioners thanked him for his comments and said they always try to be fair.  

 

Appointments:

Rod Rees, EMS Director, requested approval to apply for an Education Incentive Grant (EIG) for the Advanced EMT and Paramedic classes.  This grant should cover most of the expenses for the classes.  Commissioner Kueser made a motion for Mr. Rees to apply for the EIG.  Commissioner Oller seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.  Commissioner Kueser made a motion to go into executive session to discuss non-elected personnel for 15 minutes.  Commissioner Oller seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.  Commissioners returned to open session at 9:35 a.m.  Commissioners said that Mr. Rees needed to write some personnel policies to be reviewed by Commissioners.

 

NEW BUSINESS:

Commissioner Kueser made the motion to support DVACK (Domestic Violence Association on Central Kansas).  Commissioner Rush seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

 

OTHER BUSINESS:

The Commissioners met for a work session on the 2017 budget from 10:00 a.m. to 11:20 a.m.

 

ADJOURNMENT:

Chairman Rush adjourned from the regular meeting at 10:00 a.m.
