ELLSWORTH COUNTY COMMISSION MEETING

                                                                                                      

MINUTES

 

August 15, 2016

 

The Board of Ellsworth County Commissioners convened this 15^th day of August 2016 at the Ellsworth County Courthouse. 

                                                                           Members Present:

                                                                           Albert W. Oller, 1^st District Commissioner

                                                                           Kermit Rush, 2^nd District Commissioner

                                                                           Terry L. Kueser, 3^rd District Commissioner

                                                                                         

OPENING BUSINESS:

Chairman Rush called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m.

 

Commissioner Kueser moved to approve the Agenda.  Commissioner Oller seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

 

Commissioner Oller moved to approve the Minutes of August 8, 2016.  Commissioner Kueser seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

 

Mike Peschka and Rev. Billy Kryger were in attendance but did not wish to address the Commissioners.

 

Appointments:

Geneva Schneider, Peggy Svaty, Janice Sneath, Teresa Shute, Rod Rees and Tracy Ploutz were present for the Department Head Meeting to discuss high speed internet into the Courthouse.  The 2 bids from Eagle Communications and H&B Communications were both going to be around $400.00 per month for a 36 month contract.  Ms. Sneath and Ms. Schneider want the high speed internet as soon as possible and H&B said that it would take them a minimum of 6 months.  Commissioner Kueser made a motion to accept the bid from Eagle Communications for 36 months with the condition that they cut the cost of the Courthouse phone bill in half.  Commissioner Oller seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

 

Shawn Estrel, Saline Co. Environmental Services, handed out the 2^nd Quarter Monthly Performance Report to the Commissioners.  Commissioner Oller asked Mr. Estrel if he has had any response from the letter he sent out regarding the property on Highway 156 in Holyrood.  The property has gotten worse and it is a health hazard to the City of Holyrood.  Shawn said he would follow up and try to get answers.

 

At the request of Joe Shepack, County Attorney, Commissioner Kueser made a motion to go into executive session to discuss non-elected personnel for 60 minutes.  Commissioner Oller seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.  Commissioners returned to open session at 11:10 a.m. with no action taken.

 

OLD BUSINESS:

No decision was made on KPERS affiliation to Optional Group Life Insurance.

 

ADJOURNMENT:

Chairman Rush adjourned from the regular meeting at 11:30 a.m.
