ELLSWORTH COUNTY COMMISSION MEETING

                                                                                 

MINUTES

 

June 20, 2016

 

The Board of Ellsworth County Commissioners convened this 20^th day of June 2016 at the Ellsworth County Courthouse. 

                                                            Members Present:

                                                            Albert W. Oller, 1^st District Commissioner

                                                            Kermit Rush, 2^nd District Commissioner

                                                            Terry L. Kueser, 3^rd District Commissioner

                                                                                         

OPENING BUSINESS:

Chairman Rush called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m.

 

Commissioner Kueser moved to approve the Agenda.  Commissioner Oller seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

 

Commissioner Kueser moved to approve the Minutes of June 13, 2016.  Commissioner Oller seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

 

Leland Francis and Michael Peschka were in attendance but did not wish to address the Commissioners.

 

Appointments:

Ron Larson & Kerry Lindh, from Marquette were back to show Commissioners the Ellsworth County landowners in favor of their tax dollars keeping up the Marquette summer recreation program.  They are anticipating only a 2-3 mill increase to the landowner's taxes.  Commissioner Kueser made a motion to support the proposed Recreation District.  Commissioner Rush Seconded the motion.  Motion carried 2-1.

 

Teresa Shute, Noxious Weed & Landfill Supervisor, brought in the Noxious Weed budget request of $279,044, an increase of $5,497 or 2% and the Solid Waste Landfill budget request of $91,050, an increase of $3,250 or 3.7%.

 

Robert Weatherly & Dennis Weese, Eagle Communications, brought in a proposal for fiber optic access to Courthouse.  There would be a one-time set up and installation fee of $500.  Ellsworth County has the option of paying a monthly fee of $426.00 for a 36 month term or $380.00 for a 60 month term.  The Commissioners want the Technology Committee and Department Heads feedback on this matter.

 

Joyce Langhofer & Sharon Halloway, Wilson Senior Center, brought in their 2017 budget request of $29,000 an increase of $9,620 or 49.64%.

 

Rick Nondorf, Road & Bridge Supervisor, informed the Commissioners it would not be practical to apply for the Off Road System grant through the State since none of Ellsworth County Bridges would qualify.  Commissioners agreed to forget the grant this year.

 

NEW BUSINESS:

Commissioner Oller moved to approve Abatement 2015-173 in the amount of $15.98.  Commissioner Kueser seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

 

ADJOURNMENT:
