ELLSWORTH COUNTY COMMISSION MEETING

                                                                                 

MINUTES

 

June 13, 2016

 

The Board of Ellsworth County Commissioners convened this 13^th day of June 2016 at the Ellsworth County Courthouse. 

                                                            Members Present:

                                                            Albert W. Oller, 1^st District Commissioner

                                                            Kermit Rush, 2^nd District Commissioner

                                                            Terry L. Kueser, 3^rd District Commissioner

                                                                                         

OPENING BUSINESS:

Chairman Rush called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m.

 

Commissioner Kueser moved to approve the Agenda.  Commissioner Oller seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

 

Commissioner Kueser moved to approve the Minutes of June 6, 2016.  Commissioner Oller seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

 

Rev. Billy Kryger was in attendance but did not wish to address the Commissioners.

 

Appointments:

Rod Rees, EMS Director, said all the windows were in at the EMS building.  Glenn Vessey still has some work to finish before the project is complete.  Mr. Rees wants permission to purchase a power washer that is on sale at Orscheln's Farm Supply with the Visa Debit Card.  Commissioners told him to go ahead and purchase it.

 

Carl Miller, Appraiser, informed the Commissioners he was going to start his 17% valuation for Ellsworth County.  Mr. Miller updated the Commissioners from the June 2^nd Tax Appeal Hearing with Moly Manufacturing in Topeka.  He said Mr. Shepack, County Attorney, did an excellent job presenting examples of other Companies who paid taxes where their equipment was on State and County owned property.  Ellsworth County will have an answer in 15 days from the Board of Tax Appeals.

 

Commissioner Kueser made a motion to proclaim June as "Elder Abuse Awareness Month" and June 15^th as "World Elder Abuse Awareness Day".  Commissioner Rush seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

 

Rick Nondorf, Road & Bridge Supervisor, brought in his 2017 budget request for $2,144,256 an increase of $20,753 or 1%.  In response to a complaint the Commissioners received, Mr. Nondorf said they are blading routes and doing what they can to maintain the County roads.

 

Judge Keeley brought in Ellsworth County District Court's budget for $78,000 the same as last year.

 

NEW BUSINESS:

Commissioner Kueser moved to approve Abatement 2015-172 in the amount of $1,988.56.  Commissioner Oller seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

 

ADJOURNMENT:

Chairman Rush adjourned the meeting at 11:30 a.m.
