ELLSWORTH COUNTY COMMISSION MEETING

                                                                                 

MINUTES

 

February 8, 2016

 

The Board of Ellsworth County Commissioners convened this 8^th day of February 2016 at the Ellsworth County Courthouse. 

                                                            Members Present:

                                                            Albert W. Oller, 1^st District Commissioner

                                                            Kermit Rush, 2^nd District Commissioner

                                                            Terry L. Kueser, 3^rd District Commissioner

                                                                       

OPENING BUSINESS:

Chairman Rush called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m.

 

Commissioner Kueser moved to approve the Agenda as amended.  Commissioner Oller seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

 

Commissioner Kueser moved to approve the Minutes of February 1, 2016.  Commissioner Oller seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

 

No one was present for Open Forum.

 

Appointments:

Teresa Shute, Noxious Weed and Landfill Supervisor, wanted to know if Township Boards could put the Noxious Weed line item back on their Budgets, because only 3 Townships are spraying their roads.  The Commissioners asked County Clerk, Shelly Vopat, to look into adding the Noxious Weed line item back onto Townships' Budgets.  Mrs. Shute had the Commissioners sign documents for the State of Kansas on weed ratification and Landfill demolition.

  

Rick Nondorf, Road & Bridge Supervisor, informed the Commissioners that he had sold his sealed bid items.  The pickup truck was sold for $1,104.00 and the semi was sold for $1,025.00.  Commissioner Kueser asked Mr. Nondorf if he could spray off his mower decks with an air compressor between each Township to help cut down the spreading of noxious weeds.  Mr. Nondorf said he would let his guys know to do that.  Mr. Nondorf let the Commissioners know that he is still trying to find out if the County can buy brine as needed from the State Department.

 

NEW BUSINESS:

Commissioner Rush informed the rest of the Commissioner Board that he had talked to Kimberley Svaty, Lobbyist for Enel Windfarm, because Ellsworth County's 10 year contract is almost up with the windfarm.  Mrs. Svaty informed him that Enel almost had their proposal ready to present to the Commissioner Board.

 

Commissioner Kueser moved to approve Resolution 16R02, A Resolution Exempting Ellsworth County, Kansas from Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, As Promulgated by F.A.S.B.  Commissioner Oller seconded the information.  Motion carried 3-0.

 

Commissioner Kueser moved to approve Abatements #40-42, 46, 50-68 and 70-166 for $58,114.07.  Commissioner Oller seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

 

ADJOURNMENT:

Chairman Rush adjourned the meeting at 11:15 p.m.
