ELLSWORTH COUNTY COMMISSION MEETING

                                                                                 

MINUTES

 

February 1, 2016

 

The Board of Ellsworth County Commissioners convened this 1^st day of February 2016 at the Ellsworth County Courthouse. 

                                                            Members Present:

                                                            Albert W. Oller, 1^st District Commissioner

                                                            Kermit Rush, 2^nd District Commissioner

                                                            Terry L. Kueser, 3^rd District Commissioner

                                                                       

OPENING BUSINESS:

Chairman Rush called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m.

 

Commissioner Kueser moved to approve the Agenda.  Commissioner Oller seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

 

Commissioner Oller moved to approve the Minutes of January 25, 2016.  Commissioner Kueser seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

 

Commissioner Oller moved to approve Accounts Payable, $560,272.87, plus Prewritten Warrants, $303,279.00, for a total of $863,551.87.  Commissioner Kueser seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

 

Commissioner Oller moved to approve January's Payroll in the amount of $190,474.47.  Commissioner Kueser seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

 

No one was present for Open Forum.

 

Appointments:

At the request of Teresa Shute, Noxious Weed and Landfill Supervisor, Commissioner Kueser moved to go into executive session from 9:01 a.m. to 9:11 a.m. to discuss non-elected personnel.  Commissioner Oller seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.  Commissioners reopened at 9:11 a.m. with no action taken.

 

Scott Moore, Ellsworth City Administrator, dropped off a carbon copied letter to the Commissioners that was addressed to the Kansas Chamber of Commerce.  The letter is asking them to let the Department of Corrections reestablish the housing construction initiative here in Ellsworth.  Commissioners agreed to sign a letter of support if needed.

 

Chairman Rush, left at 10:00 a.m. due to illness.

 

Dale Brungardt, USD 327 Superintendent, wanted to know if he could have any money from the Wind Powers in lieu of tax money for Technology purchase.  Commissioner Kueser said that he needed to come up with an approximate amount of money and present it between now and the end of June so they can consider it for the 2017 budget.  Commissioners want to find out what negotiations are going to be with Enel since our in lieu of tax contract runs out next year, before they want to commit to any monies from Wind Power.

 

ADJOURNMENT:

Co-Chairman Oller adjourned the meeting at 12:00 p.m.
