ELLSWORTH COUNTY COMMISSION MEETING

                                                                                 

MINUTES

 

MAY 4, 2015

 

The Board of Ellsworth County Commissioners convened this 4^th day of May 2015 at the Ellsworth County Courthouse. 

                                                            Members Present:

                                                            Albert W. Oller, 1^st District Commissioner

                                                            Kermit Rush, 2^nd District Commissioner

                                                            Terry L. Kueser, 3^rd District Commissioner

                                                                       

OPENING BUSINESS:

 

Chairman Oller called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m.

 

Commissioner Kueser moved to approve the Agenda.  Commissioner Rush seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

 

Commissioner Rush moved to approve the Minutes of April 27, 2015.  Commissioner Kueser seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

 

APPOINTMENTS:

 

Sheriff Tracy Ploutz addressed his need to have a credit card for his department when making reservations for meetings.  The Commissioners agreed that if permission was given, the card could only be used for travel expenses or emergencies.  Also, tickets would have to accompany the bill or payment would not be made.  With that caveat, Commissioner Kueser moved to authorize Sheriff Tracy Ploutz getting a credit card for his department.  Commissioner Rush seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0. 

 

Rod Rees, EMS Director, reported they are having trouble with the locks on the bay doors and he has a bid from C&E Doors, LLC for $2,290 for new locks and installation.  Commissioner Oller thought he should have at least one other bid and if possible, the pricing should be broken down to show the cost of the locks and the charge for installation.  Mr. Rees will try to get another bid.

 

Sue Schlegel, Janice Essick and Garnell Hanson, representing the Prairie Trails Scenic Byways, presented the Commissioners with the Prairie Trail Scenic Byway Corridor Management Plan that has been approved by the Kansas Department of Transportation.   The only project left is to have brochures made for public distribution.

 

OLD BUSINESS:

 

Commissioner Kueser presented a bid from Tri Rivers Concrete Construction, LLC to construct sloped gutters on the east side of the 4-H Barn with long downspouts to divert the water coming from the roof.  Commissioner Kueser moved to accept the bid from Tri Rivers Concrete Construction, LLC in the amount of $4,850 to fix a problem at the 4-H Barn.  Commissioner Rush seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

 

NEW BUSINESS:

 

Commissioner Kueser moved to approve Abatements 356-360 in the amount of $1,487.08.  Commissioner Rush seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

 

Commissioner Oller moved to approve the April payroll for $212,356.20. Commissioner Kueser seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

 

Commissioner Rush moved to approve the April accounts payable for $198,352.63 plus pre-written warrants for $10,554.12 for a total of $208,906.75.  Commissioner Kueser seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

 

ADJOURNMENT:

 

Chairman Oller adjourned the meeting at 11:45 a.m.
