ELLSWORTH COUNTY COMMISSION MEETING

                                                                                 

MINUTES

 

APRIL 6, 2015

 

The Board of Ellsworth County Commissioners convened this 6^th day of April 2015 at the Ellsworth County Courthouse. 

                                                            Members Present:

                                                            Albert W. Oller, 1^st District Commissioner

                                                            Kermit Rush, 2^nd District Commissioner

                                                            Terry L. Kueser, 3^rd District Commissioner

                                                                       

OPENING BUSINESS:

 

Chairman Oller called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m.

 

Commissioner Rush moved to approve the Agenda.  Commissioner Kueser seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

 

Commissioner Rush moved to approve the Minutes of March 30, 2015 as corrected.  Commissioner Oller seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

 

Rev. Billy Kryger was in attendance, but did not wish to address the Commissioners.

 

APPOINTMENTS:

 

Rod Rees, EMS Director, presented quarterly financial reports and run data for the EMS Department.  They have had 170 runs so far this year which is down a little from last year.  Upon the request of Mr. Rees, Commissioner Rush moved to go into executive session to discuss non-elected personnel from 9:17 a.m. until 9:27 a.m.  Commissioner Kueser seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.  The Commissioners returned to open session at 9:27 a.m. and no action was taken.

 

Mary Ann Fredrickson made a statement regarding the discussion from last week's meeting on the burn ban.  Her intent was to "identify the problem of clarity with the burn ban proclamation" and she felt she had accomplished that.  She also discussed road signs for county roads that require trucks weighing over 26,000 lbs. to adhere to a 40 miles per hour speed limit.  She had discussed with Mr. Nondorf having a sign put on her road where there is such traffic, but he indicated he had not yet decided where to put the signs.

 

Jerry Florian, President of the Wilson Chamber of Commerce, asked the Commissioners to sign a letter of support to promote the activities of a joint Wilson-Lucas Chamber of Commerce committee working to extend the Post Rock Scenic Byway into Wilson.  The Commissioners expressed their support of the project and will see that they get a letter of support.  Rob Fillion, Smoky Hill Economic Development Director, was also present to support the committee in their endeavor.

 

ADJOURNMENT:

 

Commissioner Oller adjourned the meeting at 11:00 a.m.
