ELLSWORTH COUNTY COMMISSION MEETING

                                                                                 

MINUTES

 

JANUARY 20, 2015

 

The Board of Ellsworth County Commissioners convened this 20^th of January 2015 at the Ellsworth County Courthouse. 

                                                            Members Present:

                                                            Albert W. Oller, 1^st District Commissioner

                                                            Kermit Rush, 2^nd District Commissioner

                                                            Terry L. Kueser, 3^rd District Commissioner

                                                                       

OPENING BUSINESS:

 

Chairman Oller called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m.

 

Commissioner Kueser moved to approve the Agenda with an addition.  Commissioner Rush seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

 

Commissioner Rush moved to approve the Minutes of January 12, 2015.  Commissioner Kueser seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

 

APPOINTMENTS:

 

Sheriff Tracy Ploutz informed the Commissioners that he was buying eight Colt rifles with the money in the Special Law Enforcement Fund.  Presently, the rifles they have are furnished by the Federal Government and he would return them.  He has given the information to Jim Tyre and Keith Bruning to bid.  The approximate cost would be $900 each.

 

Keith Haberer, Emergency Management Director, reported the County had received one-half of the grant for 2014 and the other should come in January of 2015.  There will be a local LEPC meeting this Thursday, January 22.  The storm spotter meeting will be March 23 at 6:30 p.m. at the Ellsworth Library.

 

NEW BUSINESS:

 

Commissioner Rush moved to approve Abatement #318 for $324.96.  Commissioner Kueser seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

 

Nece Electric presented a bid to remove old wiring, replace with new and install proper grounding.  This would include all of the third floor, 60% of the second floor and 30% of the downstairs.  Commissioner Kueser moved to authorize Nece Electric to rewire portions of the Courthouse as indicated.  Commissioner Rush seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

 

County Clerk, Jan Andrews, reported that the county had received tax credits for the entire window project and received $54,291 in tax credits.  So far, they have been offered to First Bank as Citizens was not in need of them.  It now appears that First Bank will not need them, so the Commissioners asked the County Clerk to contact Wilson Telephone, Moly Manufacturing, Cascho and Maico to see if they have any interest.  If not, the Clerk said there are firms out there that will purchase smaller lots like ours for their customers.

 

Joe Shepack, County Attorney, presented the resolution on the Hi-Plains haul route.  Commissioner Kueser moved to approve Resolution 2015R02, A Resolution Establishing A Haul Route And Speed Limit For Vehicles Having A Gross Vehicle Weight of 26,000 Lbs. Or More Utilizing County Maintained Roads.  Commissioner Rush seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.  The resolution will become effective after the second publication in the Ellsworth County Independent Reporter.
