ELLSWORTH COUNTY COMMISSION MEETING

                                                                                 

MINUTES

 

JANUARY 5, 2015

 

The Board of Ellsworth County Commissioners convened this 5^th of December 2015 at the Ellsworth County Courthouse. 

                                                            Members Present:

                                                            Albert W. Oller, 1^st District Commissioner

                                                            Kermit Rush, 2^nd District Commissioner

                                                            Terry L. Kueser, 3^rd District Commissioner

                                                                       

OPENING BUSINESS:

 

Chairman Kueser called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m.

 

Commissioner Rush moved to approve the Agenda.  Commissioner Oller seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

 

Commissioner Rush moved to approve the Minutes of December 29, 2014.  Commissioner Oller seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

 

No one was present for the Public Forum.

 

APPOINTMENTS & ELECTION OF OFFICERS FOR 2015:

 

Commissioner Rush moved to appoint Albert Oller as Chairman and Kermit Rush as Vice Chairman for 2015.  Commissioner Kueser seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

 

Commissioner Kueser moved and Commissioner Oller seconded the motion to approve the following appointments for 2015:

Chairman Oller chaired the remaining meeting.                                                    

APPOINTMENTS:

 

Teresa Shute, Noxious Weed & Landfill Supervisor, discuss with the Commissioners that she will be out of the office at times due to her husband's illness and treatment.  She has hired Bradley Kratzer as truck operator.  Alan Nicholas has been here over his 90 day probationary period and she would like to increase his salary to $9 per hour.  Commissioner Kueser moved to approve an increase for Alan Nicholas to $9 per hour as requested.  Commissioner Oller seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.  Commissioner Oller asked if Holyrood had talked to her about their need for more space for cardboard and she replied they had not.  Mrs. Shute tried to look at the ambulance used for emergency management, however, so much stuff was stacked around it, and she couldn't get to it.  The Commissioner will talk with the EMS Director today about making it available.  The truck she was interested in getting on Purple Wave went for over $20,000.

 

Tim Vandall, Ellsworth City Administrator, introduced the new City Chief of Police, Maverick Campbell.

 

Roderic Rees, EMS Director, gave the Commissioners yearly financial and run reports.  The total runs for 2014 was 768.  Also, a list of uncollectible accounts was presented for write-off.  Commissioner Rush moved to write-off uncollectible accounts in the amount of $203.00.  Commissioner Kueser seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

 

Rick Nondorf, Road & Bridge Supervisor, reported the low road to Kanopolis would be closed starting this week for bridge replacement.  He presented contracts from the state on the Mulberry/Carneiro bridge replacement which the Commissioners signed.

 

NEW BUSINESS

 

Commissioner Oller moved to approve December accounts payable in the amount of $388,622.23 and prewritten warrants for $25,678.20 for a total of $$414,303.43.  Commissioner Rush seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

 

Commissioner Rush moved to approve the December payroll in the amount of $254,497.24.  Commissioner Oller seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

 

Commissioner Rush moved to approve the following dues for 2015:  Ellsworth/Kanopolis Chamber of Commerce, $225 and KAC $2,005.02.  Commissioner Oller seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

 

Commissioner Oller moved to approve $100 for each of the school requesting funds for the After Prom activities.  Commissioner Kueser seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

 

ADJOURNMENT:

 

Chairman Oller adjourned the meeting at 12:05 p.m.
