ELLSWORTH COUNTY COMMISSION MEETING

                                                                                 

MINUTES

 

OCTOBER 13, 2014

 

The Board of Ellsworth County Commissioners convened this 13^th of October 2014 at the Ellsworth County Courthouse. 

                                                            Members Present:

                                                            Albert W. Oller, 1^st District Commissioner

                                                            Kermit Rush, 2^nd District Commissioner

                                                            Terry L. Kueser, 3^rd District Commissioner

                                                                       

OPENING BUSINESS:

 

Chairman Kueser called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m.

 

Commissioner Rush moved to approve the Agenda.  Commissioner Oller seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

 

Commissioner Oller moved to approve the Minutes of October 3, 2014.  Commissioner Rush seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

 

No one was present for the Public Forum.

 

APPOINTMENTS:

 

Upon the request of Roderic Rees, EMS Director, Commissioner Rush moved to go into executive session to discuss non-elected personnel from 9:05 a.m. until 9:30 a.m.  Commissioner Oller seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.  The Commissioner returned to open session at 9:30 a.m. and no action was taken.

 

Gaye Woods, Paramedic, asked to go into executive session to discuss non-elected personnel.  Commissioner Rush moved to go into executive session to discuss non-elected personnel from 9:48 a.m. until 10:20 a.m. as requested.  Commissioner Oller seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.  The Commissioner returned to open session at 10:20 a.m. and Commissioner Rush moved to continue in executive session to discuss non-elected personnel from 10:20 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.  Commissioner Oller seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.  The Commissioners returned to open session at 10:30 a.m.  No action was taken.

 

Sheriff Tracy Ploutz reported that the maintenance contract for the 911 system expires this month. Because the state is contracting for the Next Generation software & hardware to run the system and that contract will not probably be let until 2016, we need to have the system covered.  Therefore, he would like to contract with ALS Cassidian for a two year maintenance contract plus hardware and software at a cost of $20,000.  This cost is eligible to come from the 911 funds.  Commissioner Kueser moved to proceed with a contract with ALS Cassidian for a two year maintenance contract and equipment.  Commissioner Oller seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.  The used Uplander van was picked up but blew a tire on the way home.  He has replaced the tires and is having all the belts and fluids checked before putting it in service.

 

Teresa Shute, Noxious Weed-Landfill Supervisor, reported she had heard from the state and the landfill plan should be approved by the end of the month.  Employee, Jim Vanek, will be retiring January 2, 2015 and she will be advertising to fill the position.  The Commissioners asked her to check with the Federal Surplus if she is still looking for a recycling van.
