ELLSWORTH COUNTY COMMISSION MEETING

                                                                                 

MINUTES

 

NOVEMBER 10, 2014

 

CANVASS OF BALLOTS

 

Chairman Kueser called the Board of Canvassers to order at 8:00 a.m. to canvass the ballots from the November 4, 2014 General Election. Included in the canvass was Commissioners Albert Oller, Kermit Rush, Terry Kueser and the County Clerk, Jan Andrews Through the write-in process, Tammy Kruse was elected Clerk of Lincoln Township.  There were five write-in votes for Thomas Township Clerk.  One of the write-in's was already Treasurer of township.  The other four were contacted and one responded that he was not interested.  The remaining three names were drawn from a hat and Jack Janssen was drawn and issued a Certificate of Election.  There were 37 provisional ballots and following election guidelines on provisional ballots, 26 were eligible to be counted.  There were counted and added to the total.  The results from election night did not change.

 

COMMISSION MEETING

 

The Board of Ellsworth County Commissioners convened this 10^th day of November 2014 at the Ellsworth County Courthouse.

                                                            Kermit Rush, 2^nd District Commissioner

                                                            Terry L. Kueser, 3^rd District Commissioner

                                                                       

OPENING BUSINESS:

 

Chairman Kueser called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m.

 

Commissioner Kueser moved to approve the Agenda.  Commissioner Oller seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

 

Commissioner Rush moved to approve the Minutes of November 3, 2014.  Commissioner Oller seconded the motion.  Motion carried 2-0.

 

Rev. Billy Kryger was in attendance but did not wish to address the Commissioners.

 

APPOINTMENTS:

 

Sheriff Tracy Ploutz informed the Commissioners he had found a vehicle to purchase.  It is a 2015 Ford Explorer at a cost of $26,852.  He will submit a voucher through the normal accounts payable process.  He will be interviewing five candidates for deputy on November 13.

 

Cynthia Edgerle,  a member of the Ellsworth County Multidisciplinary Committee, asked if they could access funding from the County's Alcohol Fund.  The Advisory Committee that accessed the funding in the past no longer exists.  In checking with the County Attorney, the Multidisciplinary Committee would meet the criteria established in K.S.A. 70-41a04.  A resolution will be drafted.
