ELLSWORTH COUNTY COMMISSION MEETING

                                                                                 

MINUTES

 

SEPTEMBER 2, 2014

 

The Board of Ellsworth County Commissioners convened this 2^nd day of September 2014 at the Ellsworth County Courthouse. 

                                                            Members Present:

                                                            Albert W. Oller, 1^st District Commissioner

                                                            Kermit Rush, 2^nd District Commissioner

                                                            Terry L. Kueser, 3^rd District Commissioner

                                                                       

OPENING BUSINESS:

 

Chairman Kueser called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m.

 

Commissioner Rush moved to approve the Agenda.  Commissioner Oller seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

 

Commissioner Rush moved to approve the Minutes of August 25, 2014.  Commissioner Oller seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

 

APPOINTMENTS:

 

Rick Nondorf, Road & Bridge Supervisor, informed the Commissioners that the fuel tank will be replaced.  He is waiting to get some pricing information.  Kirkham Michael & Associates has completed the bridge inspection.  In all, the bridges are in good shape.  He has hired two new employees.  The priority project now is getting all the mowing done.

 

NEW BUSINESS:

 

Commissioner Oller moved to approve the August payroll in the amount of $213,144.78.  Commissioner Kueser seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

 

Commissioner Oller moved to approve the August accounts payable for $325,498.58 and pre-written warrants of $51,646.20 for a total of $377,144.78.  Commissioner Rush seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

 

Commissioner Kueser moved to approve Abatements 58 & 60 in the amount of $6,078.33.  Commissioner Oller seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

 

The Commissioners reviewed the proposal for replacing the air vent on the 3^rd floor.  The estimate was from Quality Glass and it was for $1,230.  They approved the estimate.

 

The Employee Handbook section regarding travel expenses was reviewed.  Commissioner Rush moved to increase the motel/hotel coverage to $150 per night with any addition expense incurred to be approved by the department head.  The daily meal per diem would be increased to $40 with any additional expense to be paid by the employee and mileage reimbursement would be increased to $.50 per mile.  All of these changes will be effective October 1, 2014.  Commissioner Oller seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

 

Commissioner Kueser moved to approve Payment Request #2 - Final from Openhandesign in the amount of $2,784 and Payment Request #3-Final from Harbin Construction, LLC for $14,622.41.  Commissioner Rush seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0. These payments are for the completion of the renovation of the safety cell at the jail.
