ELLSWORTH COUNTY COMMISSION MEETING

                                                                                 

MINUTES

 

AUGUST 11, 2014

 

The Board of Ellsworth County Commissioners convened this 11^th day of August 2014 at the Ellsworth County Courthouse. 

                                                            Members Present:

                                                            Albert W. Oller, 1^st District Commissioner

                                                            Kermit Rush, 2^nd District Commissioner

                                                            Terry L. Kueser, 3^rd District Commissioner

 

CANVASS OF BALLOTS:

 

At 8:00 a.m. the canvass of ballots for the 2014 Primary Election was held.  Five Township  Clerk positions were certified to be placed on the General Election ballot which will be held November 4, 2014.  There were 10 Provisional ballots.  The Commissioners, as recommended by election standards, elected to count eight of them.  After counting the Provisional Ballots, the totals were adjusted.

                                                                       

OPENING BUSINESS:

 

Chairman Kueser called the regular meeting to order at 10:00 a.m.

 

Commissioner Rush moved to approve the Agenda.  Commissioner Oller seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

 

Commissioner Rush moved to approve the Minutes of August 4, 2014.  Commissioner Kueser seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

 

APPOINTMENTS:

 

Chairman Kueser opened the hearing for a road closure in Mulberry Township.  In attendance were Township Clerk, Kathryn Little and Township Treasurer, Dan Schulz.  Since there was no opposition to the closing of the road, Commissioner Rush moved to approve the closure of the following road:

A road extending north approximately ½ mile off Avenue B between the southwest quarter and southeast quarter in Section 2, Township 14 South and Range 6 West in Mulberry Township, In Ellsworth County, Kansas.

 

Commissioner Oller seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

 

Upon the request of Rob Fillion, Director, Smoky Hill Economic Development Inc., Commissioner Rush moved to go into executive session for preliminary discussions relating to the acquisition of real property from 10:25 a.m. until 10:45 a.m.  Commissioner Oller seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.  County Attorney Joe Shepack was included in the executive session.  The Commissioners returned to open session and at 10:45 a.m. and Commissioner Rush moved to continue the executive sessions for the reason previously stated from 10:45 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.  Commissioner Oller seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.  The Commissioners returned to open session at 11:00 a.m.  No action was taken. 

 

ADJOURNMENT:

 

Chairman Kueser adjourned the meeting at 11:35 p.m.
