ELLSWORTH COUNTY COMMISSION MEETING

                                                                                 

MINUTES

 

JUNE 16, 2014

 

The Board of Ellsworth County Commissioners convened this 16^th day of June 2014 at the Ellsworth County Courthouse. 

                                                            Members Present:

                                                            Albert W. Oller, 1^st District Commissioner

                                                            Terry L. Kueser, 3^rd District Commissioner

                                                                       

OPENING BUSINESS:

 

Chairman Kueser called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m.

 

Commissioner Kueser moved to approve the Agenda with a cancellation.  Commissioner Oller seconded the motion.  Motion carried 2-0.

 

Commissioner Oller moved to approve the Minutes of June 9, 2014.  Commissioner Kueser seconded the motion.  Motion carried 2-0.

 

APPOINTMENTS:

 

Pam Hays, Charles Kootz and Glenn Walker representing the Ellsworth County Conservation District, presented their budget request for 2015 of $30,000.  This is the same as last year. 

 

Jennie Boots, Nancy Bircher and Pam Westerman, representing the Ellsworth County Council on Aging, presented their 2015 budget request.  They are requesting $26,000, an increase of $2,000 or 9%.  The Commissioners stated they would take their request into consideration.

 

Carl Miller, Appraiser, asked the Commissioners to consider his 2015 budget request of $139,400.  This is a 4% increase for 2014 and most of the increase is due to a 4.8% increase in salaries.

 

Janice Sneath, Register of Deeds, presented her 2015 budget of $89,578, an increase of 4.4%.  The increase comes from adding a $1,000 to the capital outlay line item and a proposed 4% increase in salaries.

 

Janet Andrews, County Clerk, presented budgets for 2015 for the Clerk's office and Election.  The Clerk's budget is $103,910 which included a 3% salary increase.  The overall increase is 6.6% due to the fact that she is back to three employees.  The Election budget totals $33,575 which is a decrease of $17,925 from 2014.  However, next year we will only have a spring elections.

 

NEW BUSINESS: 

 

Although no vote was taken, the Commissioners approved the proposal from Service Master of $1,920 to strip the lower hallway of the Courthouse and coat with three applications of wax.  The bill will be approved through the regular accounts payable.
