ELLSWORTH COUNTY COMMISSION MEETING

                                                                                 

MINUTES

 

AUGUST 4, 2014

 

The Board of Ellsworth County Commissioners convened this 4^th day of August 2014 at the Ellsworth County Courthouse. 

                                                            Members Present:

                                                            Albert W. Oller, 1^st District Commissioner

                                                            Kermit Rush, 2^nd District Commissioner

                                                            Terry L. Kueser, 3^rd District Commissioner

                                                                       

OPENING BUSINESS:

 

Chairman Kueser called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m.

 

Commissioner Rush moved to approve the Agenda.  Commissioner Oller seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

 

Commissioner Rush moved to approve the Minutes of July 28, 2014.  Commissioner Kueser seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

 

APPOINTMENTS:

 

Randy Hofmeier, CPA with Lindburg Vogel Pierce Faris, reviewed the proposed 2015 Ellsworth County Budget.  Mr. Hofmeier stated he felt the budget was well funded.  Commissioner Rush moved to approve the 2015 budget as presented for publication.  Commissioner Oller seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

 

Roderic Rees, EMS Director, reported that one of the units broke down enroute with a transfer to Salina.  They were able to contact Salina and they picked up the patient and proceeded to the hospital.  The fan clutch went out and the repair is going to be approximately $950.  After the unit is repaired, it will be moved to Wilson since they usually only have short trips.  An EMT class has been scheduled.  The Emergency response vehicle will be down for a while as it needs new batteries.

 

Carl Miller, Appraiser, invited the Commissioners  to attend a pictometry demonstration in Stafford County on August 6, 2014.  Commissioner Oller will be attending.  The county's last photography was done in 2009.  Rice County, Stafford, Pawnee and Barton will be attending so there might be an opportunity to share some of the cost of the program.

 

Larry Sharp, representing KCAMP, reviewed the county's losses for the year.  The loss ratio percentage for 2013 was 37% which is well below the average and for the last five year it was

33%.

 

 

NEW BUSINESS:

 

Commissioner Oller moved to approve the July payroll in the amount of $203,650.43.  Commissioner Rush seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

 

Commissioner Oller moved to approve the July accounts payable for $409,752.23 plus prewritten warrants of $174,852.28 for a total of $584,604.51.  Commissioner Rush seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

 

Commissioner Oller moved to approve the 2015 Holiday Schedule as presented.  Commissioner Rush seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

 

ADJOURNMENT:

 

Chairman Kueser adjourned the meeting at 11:30 a.m.
