ELLSWORTH COUNTY COMMISSION MEETING

                                                                                 

MINUTES

 

MAY 27, 2014

 

The Board of Ellsworth County Commissioners convened this 27^th day of May, 2014 at the Ellsworth County Courthouse. 

                                                            Members Present:

                                                            Albert W. Oller, 1^st District Commissioner

                                                            Kermit Rush, 2^nd District Commissioner

                                                            Terry L. Kueser, 3^rd District Commissioner

                                                                       

OPENING BUSINESS:

 

Chairman Kueser called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m.

 

Commissioner Rush moved to approve the Agenda.  Commissioner Oller seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

 

Commissioner Rush moved to approve the Minutes of May 19, 2014.  Commissioner Oller seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

 

APPOINTMENTS:

 

Roger Masse, ECMC Administrator, reported they were in the budget process and at this time the present year does not look that favorable.  There will be some changes in the 340B plan that could have an impact on the budget.  Dr. McWilliams will be starting her practice on August 5^th instead of in September.  They are working on a plan with Central Kansas Mental Health to bring part-time services to the community.  The Commissioners requested that budgets be submitted them by July 15^th if at all possible.

 

Joan Bohl, Ellsworth County Independent Reporter, presented information on the 2013-2014 progress edition and asked if the Commissioners would like to participate as they have in the past with a ¼ page ad.  The Commissioners agreed to the same size as last year and the Clerk will work with the department for information for the ad.

 

Teresa Shute, Noxious Weed-Landfill Supervisor, has one landfill employee who has medical problems and does know at the present time when he will be able to come back to work.  Another employee is going to have surgery during June and so during June she may be left with only one employee.  The Commissioners authorized her to hire a temporary employee and if one of the employees cannot come back to work, then, they will advertise for the open position.

 

Rick Nondorf, Road & Bridge Supervisor, visited with the Commissioner about the road construction that will be starting on Highway 14.  As yet, he does not know what roads will be involved in the detours.  In checking this morning, work had not started.
