ELLSWORTH COUNTY COMMISSION MEETING

                                                                                 

MINUTES

 

MARCH 10, 2014

 

The Board of Ellsworth County Commissioners convened this 10^th day of March, 2014 at the Ellsworth County Courthouse. 

 

                                                            Members Present:

                                                            Albert W. Oller, 1^st District Commissioner

                                                            Kermit Rush, 2^nd District Commissioner

                                                            Terry L. Kueser, 3^rd District Commissioner

                                                                                                           

OPENING BUSINESS:

 

Chairman Kueser called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m.

 

Commissioner Oller moved to approve the Agenda.  Commissioner Rush seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

 

Commissioner Rush moved to approve the Minutes of March 3, 2014.  Commissioner Oller seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

 

No one was present for the Public Forum.

 

APPOINTMENTS:

 

Carl Miller, Appraiser, reported that he had starting hearings on the value notices that had gone out on March 1.  So far they have been going well.  When questioned, Mr. Miller went over again the taxing of the towers in the county as well as explaining why other values were up.  He will be attending a RMA class in June.  Discussion was also held on the county's future need for appraisal services.

 

Jo Funk, former sanitarian with Saline County, inquired if the new Sanitary Code had gone through and if not, was three acres still required for a homestead.  The new code has not been approved by KDHE so the three acres is still in effect.

 

Ronda Kasiska, Health Supervisor, asked the Commissioner to sign her grant request to the state asking for $41,622 this year.  The Commissioners signed the grant application.  This amount does not include any emergency management money.  They will be advised of that at a later date.

 

Upon the request of County Clerk, Jan Andrews, Commissioner Rush moved to go into executive session to discuss non-elected personnel from 10:00 a.m. until 10:10 a.m.  Commissioner Oller seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.  The Commissioners returned to open session at 10:10 a.m. and no action was taken.

 

OLD BUSINESS:

 

Commissioner Kueser moved to approve the 2014 KCCA dues of $280.80.  Commissioner Oller seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

 

Commissioner Rush moved to approve participation with the City of Ellsworth in the Barton County sponsored Job Fest.  Each will pay $250.  Commissioner Oller seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

 

ADJOURNMENT:

 

Chairman Kueser adjourned the meeting at 10:45 a.m.
