ELLSWORTH COUNTY COMMISSION MEETING

                                                                                 

MINUTES

 

November 18, 2013

 

The Board of Ellsworth County Commissioners convened this 18th day of November 2013 at the Ellsworth County Courthouse. 

 

                                                            Members Present:

                                                            Albert W. Oller, 1^st District Commissioner

                                                            Kermit Rush, 2^nd District Commissioner

                                                            Terry L. Kueser, 3^rd District Commissioner

 

 

 

                                                                                                           

OPENING BUSINESS:

 

Chairman Rush called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m.

 

Commissioner Kueser moved to approve the Agenda.   Commissioner Oller seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

 

Commissioner Oller moved to approve the Minutes of November 12, 2013.  Commissioner Kueser seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

 

No one was present for the open Public Forum.

 

APPOINTMENTS:

 

Tracy Ploutz, Ellsworth County Sheriff, discussed the previous complaint of tests not being run on a daily basis and dispatch not dispatching all personnel needed at the proper situations.  Tracy was unhappy that these complaints were not brought to his attention first.  He had heard the complaint that tests were not being ran every night but he felt that he had heard the tests at home and without specific dates he has no way of tracing the complaint.  He is asking that if these fire chiefs, cities or anyone else has a complaint about the dispatch, that they put the complaint in writing with a date, time and signed by the individual with the complaint so that he can access the situation.  He feels that it is unfair for him to jump in blindly to try and correct a problem without this documentation.  The Commissioners wanted Tracy to know that they understood both positions and they would let the parties involved know what he wants in writing to address any problems they have.  Tracy showed the Commissioners an example of the flood of calls that came in from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday night.  Then they discussed the need for a 2^nd dispatcher during the busier times of the day.  Tracy felt at times it was a need and they decided to give approval for a 5^th full time dispatch position. Tracy went on to explain the need for another vehicle for the sheriff's department.  He has the money in the budget to buy a Ford Interceptor for $26,400.  He feels it is the best quality for the money and fits the sheriff department's needs.  Commissioner Kueser made a motion that a special check be made for Tracy to purchase Ford Interceptor.  Commissioner Oller 2^nd the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

 

NEW BUSINESS:

 

Commissioner Kueser motioned to approval Abatements #2-4 in the amount of $102.12.  Commissioner Oller 2^nd the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

 

Commissioner Kueser motioned to approve Added Tax #1 in the amount of $651.86.  Commissioner Oller 2^nd the motion.  Motion Carried 3-0.

 

ADJOURNMENT:

 

Chairman Rush adjourned the meeting at 10:00 a.m.
