ELLSWORTH COUNTY COMMISSION MEETING

                                                                                 

MINUTES

 

SEPTEMBER 16, 2013

 

The Board of Ellsworth County Commissioners convened this 16^th day of September at the Ellsworth County Courthouse. 

                                                            Members Present:

                                                            Albert W. Oller, 1^st District Commissioner

                                                            Kermit Rush, 2^nd District Commissioner

                                                            Terry L. Kueser, 3^rd District Commissioner

                                                                                               

OPENING BUSINESS:

 

Chairman Rush called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m.

 

Commissioner Kueser moved to approve the Agenda.    Commissioner Oller seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

 

Commissioner Kueser moved to approve the Minutes of September 9, 2013.  Commissioner Oller seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

 

No one was present for the Public Forum.

 

APPOINTMENTS:

 

A Department Head meeting was held with the following in attendance:  Keith Haberer, Roderic Rees, Gaye Woods, Carl Miller, Geneva Schneider, Peggy Svaty, Ronda Kasiska, Janice Sneath, Teresa Shute, Rick Nondorf and Jan Andrews.  Items discussed were when ID badges would be available, policy on sick leave and vacation leave being accrued on donated leave and insurance.  Flu shots will be made available to employees at no cost but they will either need to attend the clinics or call and make sure a nurse is available.

 

Rick Nondorf, Road & Bridge Supervisor, presented a contract for bridge inspection.  Commissioner Kueser moved to approve the contract with Kirkham, Michael & Associates for bridge inspection in the amount of $20,100.  Commissioner Oller seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.  The bid letting for the Spring Creek Bridge has been moved back to April.  The State salt truck that was being held for the county is not going to be available as the State had to put it back into operation.  Also, Mr. Nondorf, is looking for a used 2-door pickup to be used in the yard.

 

Roderic Rees, EMS Director, requested a write-off in the amount of $503.70.  Commissioner Kueser moved to approve, as requested, the write off of $503.70.  Commissioner Rush seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.  The EMT class has started and they have seven students at the present time.

 

Ronda Kasiska, Health Supervisor, brought in packets from the meeting held in Russell for the Commissioners that were not able to attend.  Commissioners Kueser attended the meeting and he and Mrs. Kasiska thought it was a good meeting.

 

OLD BUSINESS:

 

There were no old business items.

 

NEW BUSINESS:

 

Commissioner Kueser moved to approve the 2014 Contract for services from Central Kansas Mental Health Center.  Commissioner Oller seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

 

ADJOURNMENT:

 

Chairman Rush adjourned the meeting at 10:50 a.m.
