ELLSWORTH COUNTY COMMISSION MEETING

                                                                                 

MINUTES

 

May 6, 2013

 

The Board of Ellsworth County Commissioners convened this 6^th day of May at the Ellsworth County Courthouse. 

 

                                                            Members Present:

                                                            Albert W. Oller, 1^st District Commissioner

                                                            Kermit Rush, 2^nd District Commissioner

                                                            Terry L. Kueser, 3^rd District Commissioner

                                   

                                                                                                           

OPENING BUSINESS:

 

Chairman Rush called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m.

 

Commissioner Kueser moved to approve the Agenda with additions. Commissioner Oller seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

 

Commissioner Kueser moved to approve the Minutes of April 29, 2013.  Commissioner Oller seconded the motion.  Motion carried 2-0.

 

APPOINTMENTS:

 

At the request of Sheriff Tracy Ploutz, Commissioner Kueser moved to go into executive session to discuss non-elected personnel from 9:10 a.m. until 9:25. a.m.  Commissioner Oller seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.  The Commissioners returned to open session at 9:25 a.m. Sheriff Ploutz reported Kenny Montoya, deputy and dispatcher, had resigned leaving him with just two dispatchers.  He asked the Commissioner to increase the salary of Connie Terry, part-time dispatcher who is willing to fill one of the positons until a full time person can be hired.  Commissioner Kueser moved to raise the salary of Connie Terry to $12.46 per hour effective April 26^th until fully staffed.  Commissioner Oller seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

 

Commissioner Kueser moved to go into executive session from 9:25 a.m. until 9:40 a.m. to consult with Joe Shepack, Ellsworth County Attorney on matters that would be deemed privileged in the attorney-client relationship.   Commissioner Oller seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.  The Commissioners returned to open session at 9:40 a.m. and no action was taken.

 

Roderic Rees, EMS Director, introduced Liliana Delgado, the new Paramedic, to the Commissioners   He has sent out bids for the roof at the EMS building and has received one so far.  Mr. Rees reported he has checked out the cost of a text paging system and the original investment would be approximately $4,500 per year plus the purchase of four pages at an approximate cost of $1,600 each.  When additional roof bids are received, he will bring them down.  Commissioner Kueser questioned as to whether or not an architect or someone should be consulted about the bids.

 

OLD BUSINESS:

 

There were no old business items.

 

NEW BUSINESS:

 

Commissioner Oller moved to approve the April accounts payable for $348,203.63 plus prewritten warrants in the amount of $1,023.30 for a total of $349,226.93.  Commissioner Kueser seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

 

ADJOURNMENT: 

 

Chairman Rush adjourned the meeting at 10:35 a.m.
