ELLSWORTH COUNTY COMMISSION MEETING

                                                                                 

MINUTES

 

OCTOBER 29, 2012

 

The Board of Ellsworth County Commissioners convened this 29^th day of October at the Ellsworth County Courthouse. 

 

                                                            Members Present:

                                                            Albert W. Oller, 1^st District Commissioner

                                                            Kermit Rush, 2^nd District Commissioner

                                                            Terry L. Kueser, 3^rd District Commissioner

                                   

                                                                                                           

OPENING BUSINESS:

 

Chairman Oller called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m.

 

Commissioner Kueser moved to approve the Agenda.   Commissioner Rush seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

 

Commissioner Rush moved to approve the Minutes of October 22, 2012.  Commissioner Kueser seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

 

No one was present for the Public Forum.

 

APPOINTMENTS:

 

Teresa Shute, Noxious Weed-Landfill Supervisor, reported that Kayla Most had completed her probationary period and she would like to move her to the next step on the salary schedule.  Commissioner Rush moved to approve the salary increase for Kayla Most effective November 1, 2012.  Commissioner Kueser seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.  They are still having trouble with the dozer.  This time when it stopped working it did indicate a code which could be the injection pump or ECU value.  She has contacted Murphy Tractor and they gave her a quote on the both parts but were not sure which one or if both would have to be replaced.  The total cost could be approximately $5,000 including the labor.  The Commissioner gave permission to go ahead and have it repaired.  Mrs. Shute contacted Kirkham, Michael & Associates and they said they would have proposal within the next couple of weeks.

 

OLD BUSINESS:

 

There were no old business items.

 

NEW BUSINESS:

 

Commissioner Rush moved to approve Abatements 115-117 in the amount of $430.02.  Commissioner Kueser seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

 

Commissioner Kueser moved to appoint Shawn McGowan as a Special Deputy Coroner for Ellsworth County for 2013.  Commissioner Rush seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

 

The Commissioners tabled the agreement with Kansas Workforce Investment Area 1 until more information was forthcoming.

Chairman Oller adjourned the meeting at 10:15 a.m.
