ELLSWORTH COUNTY COMMISSION MEETING

                                                                                 

MINUTES

 

May 7, 2012

 

The Board of Ellsworth County Commissioners convened this 7^th day of May 2012 at the Ellsworth County Courthouse. 

 

                                                            Members Present:

                                                            Albert W. Oller, 1^st District Commissioner

                                                            Kermit Rush, 2^nd District Commissioner

                                                            Terry L. Kueser, 3^rd District Commissioner

 

                                                                                                           

OPENING BUSINESS:

 

Chairman Oller called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m.

 

Commissioner Kueser moved to approve the Agenda as presented.  Commissioner Rush seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

 

Commissioner Rush moved to approve the Minutes of April 30, 2012. Commissioner Kueser seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

 

No one was present for the public forum.

 

APPOINTMENTS:

 

Ron Etchison and Kenny Parks, representing the Holyrood Senior Center, presented their budget request for 2013 of $9,508.  That is the same as the budget has been for the last two years and would be sufficient for 2013.  The Commissioners thanked them for their request and agreed that it has been a good program for the community.

 

Sheriff Ploutz had two bid proposals from Hedlund Electric to complete Phase II of the electrical project for the jail.  Since there are preliminary plans in place to add or reconfigure parts of  the jail, it was decided to wait on the second proposal which was to replace the light fixtures.  Commissioner Rush moved to approve the bid from Hedlund Electric for $8,225 for Phase II of the electrical project.  Commissioner Kueser seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.  Sheriff Ploutz will contact Hedlund on the approval and also get a copy of the last change order.

 

Jerry Florian and Debra Habiger, representing the Technology Committee, presented a proposal from Global Link to redesign the County website for $699.  This new design will be in Joomla and would allow each individual department to edit their webpage.  If additional pages are needed, there would be a $25 charge for each new page.  Commissioner Rush moved to allow the Technology Committee to contract with Global Link to redesign the County website at a cost of $699 and $25 for any additional pages.  Commissioner Oller seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

 

Rick Nondorf, Road & Bridge Supervisor, reported they were starting the overlaying today.  Also, he gave them an update on their bridge construction.  The use of cell phones has become a problem with employees and he has put in some discipiline procedure to help solve that problem.  The Commissioners assured him of their backing in handling this problem.

 

OLD BUSINESS:

 

There were no old business items.

 

NEW BUSINESS:

 

Commissioner Rush moved to approve the April accounts payable in the amount of $153,763.68 and pre-written warrants for $29,638.11 for a total of $183,401.79.  Commissioner Kueser seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

 

Commissioners Kueser moved to approve the donation of 180 hours of sick leave from various employees to an employee having a need.  Commissioner Rush seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

 

ADJOURNMENT:

 

Chairman Oller adjourned the meeting at 12:10.
