ELLSWORTH COUNTY COMMISSION MEETING

                                                                                 

MINUTES

 

MARCH 12, 2012

 

The Board of Ellsworth County Commissioners convened this 12^th day of March 2012 at the Ellsworth County Courthouse. 

 

                                                            Members Present:

                                                            Albert W. Oller, 1^st District Commissioner

                                                            Kermit Rush, 2^nd District Commissioner

                                                            Terry L. Kueser, 3^rd District Commissioner                

                                                                                                           

OPENING BUSINESS:

 

Chairman Oller called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m.

 

Commissioner Rush moved to approve the Agenda as printed.  Commissioner Kueser seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

 

Commissioner Rush moved to approve the Minutes of March 5, 2012. Commissioner Kueser seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

 

APPOINTMENTS:

 

Ronda Kasiska, Health Supervisor, asked the Commissioners to sign a grant that includes funding for Child Care Licensing, Chronic Disease Risk Reduction, Family Planning, Maternal & Child Health and an Immunization Action Plan.  The amount of the grant application is $46,291.39.  Chairman Oller signed the grant application.

 

Jo Funk, Sanitarian with the Salina-Saline County Health Department, introduced Brandon Farmer and Shawn Esterl from the department who will be working with Ellsworth County now that she is retiring.  She handed out the 2011 Year-end Summary for Environmental Activity by the Tri-Rivers LEPP Program.  There was not as much activity in 2011.  The Commissioners discussed with her the portion of the report that showed that 70% of the wells in Ellsworth County were not sealed correctly, allowing possible contamination into the wells.  Mrs. Funk presented some updates to the new proposed Sanitary Code that affects the Smoky Hill Village and Lakeside Acres at Kanopolis Lake.  Since this is the final review for the Commissioners, the Code will now be sent for regional review.  Also, Mrs. Funk reported that the Senate did restore funding for the LEPP program in the amount of $1.5 million, however, it has not passed the legislature and she is confident that amount of funding will be reduced.

 

OLD BUSINESS:

 

There were no old business items.

 

NEW BUSINESS:

 

Commissioner Kueser moved to approve a letter of support for the North Central-Flint Hills Area Agency on Aging.  Commissioner Rush seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

 

The County Clerk presented the 2011 Inventory that included all departments except the County Attorney.
