ELLSWORTH COUNTY COMMISSION MEETING

                                                                                 

MINUTES

 

JANUARY 17, 2012

 

The Board of Ellsworth County Commissioners convened this 17^th day of January 2012 at the Ellsworth County Courthouse. 

 

                                                            Members Present:

                                                            Albert W. Oller, 1^st District Commissioner

                                                            Kermit Rush, 2^nd District Commissioner

                                                            Terry L. Kueser, 3^rd District Commissioner                

                                                                                                           

OPENING BUSINESS:

 

Chairman Oller called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m.

 

Commissioner Rush moved to approve the Agenda.  Commissioner Kueser seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

 

Commissioner Rush moved to approve the Minutes of January 9, 2012. Commissioner Oller seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

 

Billy Kryger, Pastor of the Smoky Hill Baptist Church in Ellsworth, was in attendance but did not wish to address the Commissioners.

 

 

APPOINTMENTS:

 

Upon the request of Register of Deeds, Janice Sneath, Commissioner Kueser moved to go into executive session to discuss non-elected personnel from 9:10 a.m. to 9:20 a.m.  Commissioner Rush seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.  The Commissioner returned to open session at 9:20 a.m. and no action was taken.

 

Tim Vandall, Ellsworth City Administrator, met with the Commissioners to discuss a double chip seal on Ave JJ in front of the new Carrico building.  Mr. Nondorf, Road & Bridge Supervisor, agreed they could probably do it, however, prime oil is difficult to come by and with such a small amount, they would have some difficulty heating the oil.  They would not be able to do it until August or September.  The City will reimburse the county for the cost of the project.  Mr. Nondorf will have to do some checking and get back to Mr. Vandall.

 

Ronda Kasiska, Health Supervisor, presented eight bids for painting of the health department and putting a ringer on the door.  Commissioner Kueser moved to accept the bid from Wenz Interiors for $5,400.56 for the entire project.  Commissioner Oller seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.  Mrs. Kaskiska also presented some salary requests for 2012.

 

Keith Haberer, Emergency Management Director, reported there was conflict with some of the appointments made recently.  Mr. Tillet will not be able to serve as assistant director and Ronda Kasiska needs additional schooling to be the Exercise Program Manager.  Therefore, Commissioner Kueser moved to rescind the appointment of Rory Tillet as Ellsworth County Assistant Emergency Manager.  Commissioner Rush seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.  Commissioner Kueser moved to rescind the appointment of Ronda Kasiska as Exercise Program Manager and appoint Keith Haberer as Ellsworth County's Exercise Program Manager.  Commissioner Oller seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

 

Sheriff Tracy Ploutz visited with the Commissioners and told them he would be in meetings next week and unable to attend the Department Head meeting.

 

OLD BUSINESS:

 

Upon the recommendation of Jim Scolara, our electrical engineer for the jail project, Commissioner Rush moved to accept the bid from Hedlund Electric in the amount of $6,775.  Commissioner Oller seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.  Mr. Scolara will notify the bidders and draw up contracts.

 

NEW BUSINESS:

 

Commissioner Rush moved to approve Abatements 77 & 78 in the amount of $188.56 and added tax in the amount of $6l.66.  Commissioner Kueser seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

 

ADJOURNMENT:

 

Chairman Oller adjourned the meeting at 12:15 p.m.
