ELLSWORTH COUNTY COMMISSIONER MEETING

 

MINUTES

 

MAY 16, 2011

 

The Board of Ellsworth County Commissioners convened this 16^th day of May 2011 at the Ellsworth County Courthouse. 

 

                                                            Members Present:

                                                            Albert W. Oller, 1^st District Commissioner

                                                            Kermit Rush, 2^nd District Commissioner

                                                            Terry L. Kueser, 3^rd District Commissioner

                                                           

                                                                                                                       

OPENING BUSINESS:

 

Chairman Kueser called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m.

 

Commissioner Rush moved to approve the Agenda.  Commissioner Oller seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

 

Commissioner Rush moved to approve the Minutes of May 9, 2011.  Commissioner Oller seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

 

Billy Kryger, Pastor of the Smoky Hill Baptist Church in Ellsworth, was in attendance but did not wish to address the Commissioners.

 

APPOINTMENTS:

 

Pat Murray and Shelia Srna, representing Central Kansas Mental Health Center, presented their 2012 budget request of $20,798, an increase of 4%.

 

Upon the request of Sheriff Tracy Ploutz, the Commissioners left the meeting at approximately 9:55 a.m. to look at the electrical system at the jail.  The Commissioners returned at 10:45 a.m. and asked the County Clerk to contact Hedlund Electric and Jaguar Electric to see if they would be willing to meet with the Sheriff and have him take them through the building and bid on the specified work to be done.

 

Michelle Maze, EMS Director, requested to go into executive session.   Commissioner Rush moved to go into executive session to discuss non-elected personnel from 11:00 a.m. until 11:15 a.m.  Commissioner Oller seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.  The Commissioners returned to open session at 11:15 a.m. and Chairman Kueser announced that Mrs. Maze had submitted her resignation as EMS Director effective June 10, 2011 and has accepted a position of EMS Director with the Hoisington EMS.  Commissioner Rush moved to accept the resignation submitted by Mrs. Maze.  Commissioner Oller seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.  The County Clerk was instructed to place ads for an EMS Director.

 

OLD BUSINESS:

 

The County Clerk was asked to contact Dr. Whitmer and Shawn McGowan, PA for a meeting to discuss district coroner laws and protocols.

 

NEW BUSINESS:

 

Commissioner Rush moved approve 2010 abatements in the amount of $908.82.  Commissioner Oller seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

 

ADJOURNMENT:

 

Chairman Kueser adjourned the meeting at 11:55 a.m.
