ELLSWORTH COUNTY COMMISSIONER MEETING

 

MINUTES

 

OCTOBER 11, 2010

 

The Board of Ellsworth County Commissioners convened this 11^th day of October 2010 at the Ellsworth County Courthouse. 

 

                                                            Members Present:

                                                            Albert W. Oller, 1^st District Commissioner

                                                            Kermit Rush, 2^nd District Commissioner

                                                            Terry L. Kueser, 3^rd District Commissioner

                                                           

                                                                                                                       

OPENING BUSINESS:

 

Chairman Rush called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m.

 

Commissioner Kueser moved to approve the Agenda as amended. Commissioner Oller seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

 

Commissioner Kueser moved to approve the Minutes of October 4, 2010.  Commissioner Oller seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

 

No one was present for the Public Forum.

 

APPOINTMENTS:

 

Kenny Bernard, Emergency Management Director, reported that the County Emergency Operations Plan has been approved.  He also updated the Commissioners on other projects.

 

Sheriff Tracy Ploutz has received a contract from the juvenile facility at Garden City, but he does not plan to sign it.  He has a contract with Salina and Junction City and finds that they are sufficient.

 

Roger Masse, ECMC Administrator, announced that the medical center had received word from FEMA that they had been approved for the shelter grant.  The grant is a matching grant whereby FEMA will spend $767,953 and the hospital will have to match with $255,984 in dollars or in-kind service.  There is a three year window for the grant to be used.  Now they will concentrate on the next phase as to whether or not to tie in an expansion of hospital to the shelter or make it a stand alone project.
