ELLSWORTH COUNTY COMMISSIONER MEETING

 

MINUTES

 

May 24, 2010

 

The Board of Ellsworth County Commissioners convened this 24^th day of May 2010 at the Ellsworth County Courthouse.

                                                            Albert W. Oller, 1^st District Commissioner

                                                            Kermit Rush, 2^nd District Commissioner

                                                            Terry L. Kueser, 3^rd District Commissioner

                                                           

                                                                                                                       

OPENING BUSINESS:

 

Chairman Rush called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m.

 

Commissioner Kueser moved to approve the Agenda as printed. Commissioner Oller seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

 

No one was present for the Public Forum.

 

APPOINTMENTS:

 

Carolee Miner, Shelia Nelson-Stout and Patrick Wallerius, representing OCCK, Inc., presented their budget request for 2011 of $66,799.  This is the same as 2010.  They have been able to trim their expenses and with the restoration of some of their state funding, they feel the amount requested would be sufficient.  The Commissioners discussed changes to the present T-Link program operated by KDOT that would enlarge the bus service that OCCK presently operates.  To fund the changes, counties would be charged a fee based on a formula to be decided by KDOT.  The buses being operated by the Senior Centers and cities would still be funded; however, there is no guarantee how long that would last.

 

Eleanor Hunter, Wilson Senior Center, presented their 2011 budget request of $17,000, the same as last year.  Wilson has been able to keep their budget the same due to the volume of volunteer time.

 

Josh Beckman, Kirkham Michael & Associates, gave the Commissioners an update on the different project in which they are involved.  The low road to Kanopolis was completed and the bridge inspection is finished.  The bridge report will be ready for distribution in a couple of weeks.  In regards to the five-year plan, the next bridge is scheduled in 2013.

 

Carl Miller, Appraiser, and Geneva Schneider, County Treasurer, presented the 2010 Neighborhood Revitalization applicants for approval.  Commissioner Kueser moved to approve the recommendation of ten applicants for the 2010 Neighborhood Revitalization Plan.  Commissioner Oller seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

 

Upon the request of Ronda Kasiska, Health Supervisor, Commissioner Kueser moved to go into executive session to discuss non-elected personnel from 11:00 a.m. until 11:10 a.m.  Commissioner Rush seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.  Beth Valier was included in the executive session.  The Commissioners returned to open session at 11:10 a.m. with no action being taken.

There were no old business items.

 

NEW BUSINESS:

 

There were no new business items.

 

ADJOURNMENT:

 

Chairman Rush adjourned the meeting at 11:45 a.m.
